“So They'll Know About God”
Mason Mulligan and his family have packed Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes together since he was 3 years old. For many years, they packed four boxes—one for every family member. But when Mason was turning 17, he wanted to do something special to bless others on his birthday. He wanted to pack 18 shoeboxes—17 to celebrate his age, plus “one to grow on.”
Mason posted his goal on Facebook and, through the generosity of well-wishers, he was able to pack 37 shoeboxes. Last year, when Mason was turning 18, he packed 77 boxes with help from family and friends. This would be quite an accomplishment for any high school student, but this Hartsville, South Carolina, teen lives with Down syndrome.
Mason said he packs shoeboxes “to give children what they like to have and make them happy.” But, even more importantly, so “they'll know about God.”
Mason plans to pack 100 shoebox gifts for his 19th birthday in November. Mason and his mother, Tansi, serve as Operation Christmas Child Project Leaders for their church. And Mason set the shoebox goal for the congregation—250 boxes! Each night when Mason prays, he asks God to “help all the kids that get the shoeboxes overseas.”
We praise God for Mason and others like him who have a real love for children and a commitment to share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ!

Pray for several National Operation Christmas Child Conferences occurring in many receiving countries. Pray for a time of encouragement, inspiration, and effective training for staff and volunteers committed to sharing the Gospel in their countries through shoebox gifts. |

Pray for the seeds that were sown at the outreach events among unreached people groups in East Africa. Ask the Lord to move in mighty ways among these groups and for the Gospel to spread. |
