    What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over twelve weeks. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: a video, food and good conversation.

    First there's a Video

The videos are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Each video is around twenty five minutes long exploring the big issues relating the basics of Christianity whilst addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? or Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

    Then there's Food

Whether it's a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It's no different at Alpha. At River of Life, most sessions include sharing food together because it's a great way to build community and get to know each other.

    Followed by a Discussion

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

We really look forward to welcoming you on the next Alpha Course.

  • Who Should Attend?

Alpha is designed for people who may have questions about life, wanting to know more about God or just wanting to find out for themselves what Jesus is all about. If this includes you and you would like to join us in a very comfortable environment without any pressure to talk or participate in any way then this course is definitely for you! Here at River of Life we provide a very friendly atmosphere, we share a 25 min video followed by light refreshments and a time to chat and ask questions.

Just come along for one session to test the water, we are sure you will come back for more but, if you don't we promise not to call or pester you.

Planning your Visit

First Visit?

web 800x400 (8) Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

Some key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

Our Church meets every Sunday at 10.30am for Sunday Service. Aim to arrive 10 minutes early to get parked and find a seat in time for the service to start.

We meet at:

River of Life Christian Life Centre
2 Carr Road, Felixstowe, IP11 2FS

You can see a map on our Contact us page

There is plenty of parking available on the site.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be approximately 45 mins of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the bible. After the notices there will be a spiritual message from one of the leaders at the Church with a chance to respond at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are normally served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for children at the Church for ages 0 thru 17. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. An announcement is made when it's time for children to join their programmes. Children need to be registered.

For more information about programmes and age groups, please refer to the relevant pages under the main menu heading "Ministries".

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
