Healing Prayer

Healing Prayer 800px-3530

River of Life is a faith and Word church which teaches and practices the New Testament example of prayer for the sick for healing. Sometimes referred to as “Divine Healing”, this is the practice of the laying on of hands and the anointing with oil for healing.

Divine healing is the act of God through Jesus Christ where a person is healed physically and/or delivered from emotional, mental, or spiritual infirmities. Most often, it is seen as a physical healing of sickness diseases, but it is not restricted to the physical.
In all Christian groups and churches where divine healing is taught and practised, it is always associated with the atoning work of Jesus Christ where, as the Bible teaches, He purchased healing for us by His death on the Cross.
Some of the verses in the Bible which show this truth are:-

  • Isaiah 53:5 "But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
  • Matthew 8:16-17 "When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Him (Jesus); and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
  • 1 Peter 2:24 "He (Jesus) Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you have been healed."
  • James 5:14-15 "Is anyone among you sick?  Let them call for the elders of the church to pray over them, and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord; And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed sins they will be forgiven." v 16 Therefore pray for each other that you may be healed.”
  • 1 John 5:14 "And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us."

At River of Life Church we always endeavour to show care and compassion towards those who are suffering illness of any kind, and our desire is to follow the teachings of Jesus to relieve suffering and infirmity.

Some key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

Our Church meets every Sunday at 10.30am for Sunday Service. Aim to arrive 10 minutes early to get parked and find a seat in time for the service to start.

We meet at:

River of Life Christian Life Centre
2 Carr Road, Felixstowe, IP11 2FS

You can see a map on our Contact us page

There is plenty of parking available on the site.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be approximately 45 mins of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the bible. After the notices there will be a spiritual message from one of the leaders at the Church with a chance to respond at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are normally served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for children at the Church for ages 0 thru 17. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. An announcement is made when it's time for children to join their programmes. Children need to be registered.

For more information about programmes and age groups, please refer to the relevant pages under the main menu heading "Ministries".

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
